Transcribbler
TestFlight BetaAudio transcription that runs entirely on your Mac. Your recordings never leave the computer; the only network traffic is a one-time model download.
Tanooki Studios is a one-person studio making small, careful apps for Mac, iPhone and the desktop. Where the work can happen on your own computer, it does. Where it genuinely can't, we tell you exactly what leaves and why.
How We Build
Transcription, dictation, mail, your subscription list — if a task can run locally, it runs locally. Not as a paid upgrade or a setting buried three screens deep. As the default, and usually as the only option.
Most of what we make has nothing to sign into. No email address to hand over before you can try it, no profile quietly following you between apps, and nothing that stops working because a server somewhere got switched off.
Where something does need the network — a health record, a restaurant search — we say so in words, on the page, before you tap it. No analytics, no crash-reporting SDK you didn't agree to, no telemetry described as "improving your experience".
In The Works
Nothing has shipped under the Tanooki name yet — the studio is new. Here's what's furthest along.
Audio transcription that runs entirely on your Mac. Your recordings never leave the computer; the only network traffic is a one-time model download.
A private, ad-free desktop viewer for YouTube that never signs in to Google. Bring your subscriptions across once and Telly keeps the list on your machine.
Hold a hotkey, talk, and tidied-up text appears wherever your cursor is. Speech recognition and cleanup both happen on the Mac, with no key and no network.
Get Involved
Beta testers get early builds, a direct line for bug reports, and a genuine say in what gets fixed first. No cost, no commitment, and you can step away whenever you like.
